- Fund Raising Ideas
A brief primer about fundraising, this document has several ideas for raising funds for Afghan refugees. It is intended to be a guide and is certainly not complete.
- AWM information for fund raising
When planning fund raising events, keep this information handy. It can be used as a script to read out during events. The Afghan Women's Mission is a Project of IHC, a 501(c)[3] non-profit organization, and it is important that information about how donations are made out, etc, is expressed accurately.
- General AWM Flyer
If you only have room for a single flyer, this is the one to get. It is a general flyer explaining the different projects of RAWA that we support and where people can send donations. We recommend that at least this flyer be passed out at fund raising events so that donors know who they are donating money to and can keep copies for their records or give to friends.
- Sign Up for Monthly Pledge Program
One of the most important ways you can help us is by signing people up for our monthly pledge program. Once signed up, donors will receive a letter in the mail each month with a special report on where their donations are going, usually content that is not yet published on our website and comes straight to us from RAWA. Donors can donate as little as $10 a month, or as much as $100 a month. The most important thing is that we have a stable, committed base of donors, which in turn ensures that our programs stay afloat. The flyer has the necessary information about where to send the form at the bottom.
- General Signup Sheet
An important aspect of fund raising is keeping a database of donors who can be contacted for future events. Keep several copies of this on at your fund raising event (keep in mind how large an audience you expect). The best place to keep this is on a table at the entrance which people have to pass when entering. It is also recommended that any copies of flyers be kept on such an entrance table. You can greatly help the Afghan Women's Mission expand its database by mailing copies of filled signup sheets to Afghan Women's Mission, 2460 North Lake Avenue, PMB 207, Altadena, CA 91001.
- Program Flyers (5 pieces -pdf)
- Keep Malalai Clinic Open
- Sponsor a Teacher
- Support Orphanages
- Sponsor an Orphan
- Help Raise Awareness
- Emergency Relief
These flyers have been created in such a way that they can be used as stand-alone flyers since they contain information about AWM as well as a way to make donations for the particular program. While Malalai Clinic is the main priority for the AWM, we offer donors several programs to choose from including orphanages, education, emergency relief, etc. These flyers are great to use when donors want to know tangible ways in which their donation will be used. It also allows you to tailor your fundraiser to any particular category you may wish to focus on.
- Sponsorship Form (for races, walkathons, etc)
Individuals have run races and organized walkathons to raise money for the Afghan Women's Mission. This is a very innovative and fun-filled way to help Afghan women that brings communities together for a common cause. This form can be used by people running in the race to gather pledges of sponsorship.
- General Donation Form
This form is a handy form which clarifies how people can support Afghans through AWM. It can be included with a one-time donation or a monthly pledge. Remember the AWM currently offers a monthly pledge program for Malalai Clinic and teacher sponsorship only. The form also ensures that donors make out their donations correctly. One can collect filled out forms on the spot with the checks or credit card information. An alternative is to provide stamped and addressed envelopes made out to the Afghan Women's Mission, 2460 North Lake Avenue, PMB 207, Altadena, CA 91001, and hand them out with the pledge/donation forms.
Note about flyers: When making copies of the flyers, digital photocopiers work well (Kinko's Copies usually carry these). A good idea when coupling flyers is to make two sided copies with a flyer on either side.
