Afghan Relief Dinner and Silent Auction
Helena, Montana December 19, 2001

Dear RAWA and Afghan Women's Mission:

Today I am sending a registered envelope with the proceeds from the Afghan Relief Dinner and Silent Auction we held in Helena, Montana on December 19th.

Hopefully the checks are all made out correctly enough for you to deposit. Total funds in the envelope are $3,350.37 and I have included a list of the donors and check amounts. I am waiting for a few additional checks for auction items and will send them later.

Our photographer, Jennifer Thompson loaded a few images of the event on the computer and I have added them as attachments. The following picture shows most of our kitchen crew including Noorjahan Parwana (on the left in black pullover) who also gave a slide show on Afghanistan.

Noorjahan lived in Lashkargah in southern Afghanistan until she was 9.

Though the event was fun in many ways, and educational as well, all of our hearts are aching for the suffering of the Afghan people, and especially that inflicted on innocent victims by our military actions.

We send our prayers and love with these checks.

Joan Bird

From our Guest Book

Dear AWM:

I am truly sorry that women and children in Afghanistan have to go through so much. My prayers are with all of them. Just remember that no matter what Allah(God) is with you and that he loves you. Also remember that when women from other countries read your stories and when they do your stories touch their hearts.
