She has very good sense of humor. Her name is Gulandama (flower body) and she is only seventeen. She could have been a good student if she could have gone to school as she wishes. She says, "I don't have big claims. I just want to read and write".
To read what?
"To read newspapers, books, stories and letters from my brothers. I want to be like you!"
Why couldn't you go to school?
"There are a few schools, but my father does not trust them and cannot pay the fees as well. Besides I think I am too old to go to school now, aren't I?" She laughs!
Gulandama has been to Malalai Hospital many times. Today she was so excited to see her favorite RAWA member after many months, that she just ran to her, hugged her, and asked her many questions. "Will you move the hospital to Afghanistan? Soon we are leaving for Afghanistan."
We will try our best to move it but we are not sure if it will be to Baghlan! (Gulandama is from Baghlan).
She laughs and says, "You know, we are 'Kochi' (nomads). We will find you and the hospital wherever you establish it in Afghanistan. We will set up our tents close it. We do not want to lose this hospital."
Her dream is to see a peaceful and free Afghanistan where she and fifteen other members of her family and all Afghans can live without worries for the future!
