Hazrat Ali is one year old and his sister Salima is nine. They have come with their grandmother (who did not allow us to take her picture) to the hospital. Ali is sick but Salima is there to take care of him. He has a high fever. They live in "Kacha Abadi" where there is no clean water, electricity or proper food. Ali's father works in "Mandaee" (an outdoor fruit and vegetable market) but they themselves have not had any fruit in months! Their grandmother says, "We had many relatives in Afghanistan, in the North." She continues, "War has destroyed everything. Now we do not have homes, gardens or animals. In this situation we will never go back to Afghanistan. If it was rebuilt and if there was no war, then maybe we would go back, but not now."
They are happy about Malalai Hospital even if they have to walk for more than two hours to get there. Grandmother says, "We have had opportunities to tell others about the hospital. Yesterday our neighbor was sick and I asked her why she doesn't go to the hospital. She replied, "To which hospital shall I go and how shall I pay the fees?" I asked her, "Why don't you go to our own hospital, Malalai Hospital?" Today she is here. I only wish you more success and that Allah gives you more!"
