Quilt & Food Distribution in Rawalpindi

Between Jan. 1st and 12th, 2002, RAWA distributed 8,000 quilts and thousands of sacks of flour among Afghan refugees in the Lalazar area of Rawalpindi and in Haripur, Pakistan. People in these areas are of the Pashtoon tribe and live in very poor conditions. Many of them suffer through the cold Pakistani winters with a lack of warm bedding. A survey was taken in the area and coupons were given to the most needy families which they were able to later redeem for their quilt. AWM provided funding for this project.
