Food Distribution in Samangan Province

On March 12, 2002 RAWA distributed food among earthquake victims in two villages in Samangan province in North Central Afghanistan (north of Bamian) where an earthquake had struck on March 4. As many as one hundred fifty people were killed and hundreds were injured. Houses were destroyed in a village located under a cliff when huge rocks fell on them, flattening them. And another hundred homes were flooded when a landslide blocked a river. AWM provided funding to bring relief to these areas.
