Food Distribution in Nahrin, Baghram Province

On March 25, 2002, a strong earthquake devastated the districts of Nahrin and Burkha in Baghlan Province in northern Afghanistan in the Hindu Kush mountains, killing 3,000-4,000 people, injuring over 5,000 people, destroying some 1,500 homes and rendering 20,000 people homeless. On April 15 a RAWA team visited the area and distributed emergency aid among the most needy families who had lost everything. AWM provided funding for this effort.
